Get PAN card at home, Apply online in three ways

PAN (Permanent Account Number) card is an essential document mandated by the Government of India for all citizens. To streamline the application process, individuals can now apply for a PAN card conveniently from their homes through the online process. This process is very simple and straightforward. For this you need only three things. Just your valid Aadhaar card, an active mobile number, and a reliable internet connection.

How to Apply for PAN Card Free Online?

If an applicant is trying to apply online for PAN card, then he/she can apply by following one of the below mentioned application process.

Through e-filing portal

Step 1: First, the applicant must visit the website of the e-filing portal.

Step 2: After that, navigate to the homepage and click on “Instant e-PAN”.

Step 3: After opening the e-PAN page, click on the “Check Status/Download PAN” option appearing on the drop-down menu bar and select ‘Continue’.

Step 4: Once you are on the Check Status page, click on Download Check Status/ PAN.

Step 5: Next, enter your valid 12-digit Aadhaar number and click on “Continue”.

Through TIN portal

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax website

Step 2: After clicking on “Register” the registration page will open.

Step 3: Under the tab labelled “Taxpayer”, enter your own PAN, click ‘validate’, select ‘Yes’ and click ‘Continue’.

Step 4: The applicant will then need to enter (enter) their first name, middle name, last name, date of birth, gender, age and address and then press ‘Continue’.

Step 5: The applicant must enter the contact details (Contact Number), which will include your phone number, email address and postal address, for OTP verification.

Step 6: Then click on ‘Continue’, enter the OTP received through the entered mobile and email and continue.

Step 7: After OTP verification, validate the entered information.

Step 8: Create a password for yourself.

Step 9: After clicking on ‘Register’, the applicant will receive an acknowledgment slip.

Through UTIITSL portal

Step 1: The applicant needs to visit the UTIITSL PAN Card application page and then select ‘PAN Card for Indian Citizens/NRIs’ under the PAN Services drop-down menu that appears on the screen.

Step 2: Select ‘Apply for New PAN Card’.

Step 3: Now, the applicant can choose from two available options, which include “Physical Mode” and “Digital Mode”. By clicking on the ‘Physical Mode’ option, which prompts the user to submit the print-signed (printed signature) application documents to the nearest UTIITSL office, or if the applicant selects ‘Digital Mode’, he/she needs to sign using DSC mode or Aadhaar-based eSignature.

Step 4: The user will be asked to enter his personal and mandatory information.

Step 5: As a verification process, the applicant will then need to check any errors in the information entered and then click on ‘Submit’.

Step 6: Make a secure online payment using a payment gateway.

Step 7: After successful payment, the applicant will receive an email with payment confirmation.

Step 8: You need to attach two passport size photographs to the printed document and sign in the space provided.

Step 9: Attach copies of proof of identity, address, and date of birth along with the filled application form. Process the form and send it to your nearest UTIITSL office to issue your PAN card.
